Childcare provider Kido International has suffered a ransomware attack by the gang Radiant, exposing the personal data of more than 8,000 children attending its nurseries across Greater London.
What was stolen
Radiant leaked names, photos, home addresses, and family contact info of 10 children to prove their access. They now threaten to release:
- 30 more child profiles
- 100 staff profiles
The breach represents a severe child safeguarding and privacy crisis.
Investigation
- Kido International has not commented.
- Metropolitan Police Cyber Crime Unit confirmed an ongoing investigation, but no arrests yet.
- Hackers claim they were inside Kido’s systems for weeks and allege links to Russia (unverified).
Bigger Picture
This attack is part of a wave of ransomware incidents hitting UK businesses in 2025, including:
- Jaguar Land Rover suppliers (shutdown until October)
- Collins Aerospace (crippled Heathrow check-ins)
- Marks & Spencer (online orders halted, £300M loss)
Why it matters
“Going after those who look after children is a particularly egregious act,” said Jonathon Ellison of the UK’s National Cyber Security Centre.
This attack underscores that no organization is off-limits when cybercriminals see an opportunity for extortion — even nurseries.
👉 At Alcaeus Services, we help organizations protect against ransomware by hardening defenses, monitoring for intrusion, and preparing robust incident response plans to limit damage when attacks strike.
